King Charles III and Queen Camilla are currently on their first official state visit to the United States, marking the first British royal state visit since 2007. Their tour, which began on Monday, includes stops in Washington, DC, New York City, and Virginia. The visit celebrates the longstanding relationship between the UK and the U.S. as the latter approaches its 250th anniversary of independence.

The royal couple started their trip in Washington, DC, where they were welcomed by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The couple enjoyed afternoon tea and a tour of the White House Beehive. They also attended a garden party at the British ambassador's residence, a tradition not seen since 1939. On Tuesday, King Charles addressed Congress, becoming the second British monarch to do so, following Queen Elizabeth II in 1991. The day concluded with a state dinner hosted by the Trumps.

On Wednesday, King Charles and Queen Camilla will travel to New York City. They are scheduled to visit the 9/11 Memorial and meet with first responders and victims' families. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will join them at the memorial. The royal couple will also engage in various cultural and business events throughout the city.

The visit will wrap up in Virginia, where King Charles will explore a national park and learn about Appalachian culture. The couple will also participate in a community celebration of America's upcoming 250th anniversary. After their U.S. tour, the King will visit Bermuda, marking his first official visit to a British overseas territory as monarch.

The visit has been met with heightened security due to recent events, including an attempted attack at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Despite these concerns, the visit continues as planned, with Buckingham Palace expressing gratitude for the swift security measures taken.
