The New York Knicks continue their postseason journey tonight, hosting the Atlanta Hawks for Game Two of the first-round playoff series at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks secured a 113-102 victory in Game One on Saturday (April 18), thanks to a stellar performance by Jalen Brunson, who scored 28 points.
Brunson's early dominance was pivotal, as he made his first six shots, scoring 19 points in the first quarter. Although he struggled in the second half, his teammates stepped up. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 19 of his 25 points in the second half, and OG Anunoby and Josh Hart added 18 and 11 points, respectively. Hart also contributed 14 rebounds.
The Knicks, under new coach Mike Brown, are the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. They aim to build on last year's success, which saw them reach the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000. The Hawks, led by coach Quin Snyder, earned the No. 6 seed after a strong post-All-Star break performance. Despite a late rally, they fell short in Game One.
Brunson emphasized the importance of staying focused for Game Two, saying, "We know that they’re going to be ready for Game Two. So quick turnaround and extreme focus." The Knicks' depth and defensive efforts will be crucial as they face a resilient Hawks team tonight.
