Mayor Zohran Mamdani delivered his "100 Days Address" in Queens on Sunday, emphasizing the strides made in fulfilling his campaign promises for New York City. A key achievement noted was the advancement of universal childcare for two-year-olds, a major pledge from his campaign. The mayor also highlighted efforts to eliminate scaffolding sheds and the repaving of over 1,100 miles of city streets to address potholes.

Mamdani's administration has faced challenges, including a significant budget deficit and criticism over unmet promises such as the "fast and free" bus initiative. Despite these hurdles, Mamdani has maintained focus on affordability and livability in the city. He has secured state funding for a free childcare pilot and appointed members to the Rent Guidelines Board to potentially freeze rents for stabilized tenants.

The mayor's popularity has fluctuated, with a recent Marist Poll showing a 48% approval rating, down from 63% in February. However, 60% of New Yorkers believe he is fulfilling his campaign promises. Mamdani's visibility and commitment to quality-of-life issues have been noted by residents, though some remain skeptical about the feasibility of his proposals.

Looking forward, Mamdani aims to prepare the city for the upcoming World Cup, which he sees as a significant economic opportunity. He continues to navigate political and fiscal challenges, working towards a balanced budget and sustainable city improvements.
