The NCAA March Madness tournament always delivers dramatic moments, but this year’s games may have provided one of the most dramatic moments of all time. Huskies Freshman Braylon Mullins gave UConn the lead with under a second left on the clock, following a steal at half court, to complete a comeback after trailing by 19 points earlier in the game. Warner Wolf, legendary sportscaster, spoke with Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning about the shot and why he enjoyed watching UConn basketball.
“It was the old-time, two-handed set shot; maybe this will bring it back,” Wolf told Sliwa and Mendte. “That’s the way everybody used to shoot… that was my kind of basketball.”
Wolf likened the shot to a another iconic moment from Duke’s history in the NCAA tournament: “It was like poetic justice for Duke to lose; remember, they were looked upon as one of the great winning shots of all time in that 1992 final.”
