The Threat Of AI In Hollywood

AI in Hollywood was a focal point of the SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023 but the first domino may have fallen in the fight against it. The late Val Kilmer will star in a new film ‘As Deep as the Grave’ as an AI representation of himself. Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte spoke about the news and how it happened on their show on 710 WOR.

“His family signed over the rights to his image, and Val Kilmer did as well, they did it on his death bed… he wanted to make sure the movie was finished,” Mendte said. “Hollywood is freaked out over this because this is exactly what SAG-AFTRA was striking about.”

Mendte talked about why Hollywood is scared by this: “It’s not just this case, it’s the precedent it sets; There is fear that they may get young actors that come in and they immediately get them to sign a contract because they want the job, they want to be a star… and they gave away the rights to their images.”
