Do New Yorkers Feel Safe As Global Tensions Rise?

Shortly over two weeks ago the United States launched strikes on Iran, taking out their leader, Ali Khamenei, and they have continued attacks in conjunction with Israel since then. Multiple terror attacks have happened within the United States in the time since the strikes on Iran, and although there’s no clear connection, they are largely believed to be in response to America’s attacks on the Middle Eastern nation. Natalie Migliore, WOR Reporter, talked to the people of New York City about whether or not they feel safe walking the streets in one of the country’s most populated and recognizable cities.

“Right now, I feel that all eyes are on the United States in general, so retaliation would be normal, that’s why I personally feel anxious and nervous,” one person told Migliore. “America is safe, you just got to watch out for those extra people that want to do things to make America not safe anymore,” another person told Migliore.

One person isn’t sure if our involvement in the Middle Eastern conflict was a good decision: “The United States is to my belief a great nation; unfortunately, we stick our nose into too many things that we should not, and now we have a person in office that should be worried about what’s going on here versus overseas.”
