Zohran Mamdani campaigned on helping the lower and middle class by raising taxes on the richest in NYC and using that money on programs to help everyone else. Mamdani can’t make that move without the approval of state lawmakers in Albany, and Governor Kathy Hochul who has been adamant that she wont raise taxes. Rob Astorino, WOR and NewsMax host, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about who will actually be affected if Mamdani’s plans for higher taxes actually go through.
“It’s always ‘you’re never paying your fair share’ they’ll never define what that means, and millionaires tax never means millionaire,” Astorino told host Larry Mendte. “The only people that should be nervous, it ain’t Kathy Hochul, it’s us, it’s me you its everyone who’s actually paying taxes in New York.”
Astorino believes they’ll use alternative tactics if necessary to raise funds: “They’ll do backdoor taxes on all different things as well, maybe raise cable fees or phone fees to make up all the money that they don’t need, but that they want.”
