Very early on Saturday morning the United States launched attacks against Iran, which ultimately resulted in the death of Iran’s leader Ali Khamenei. While people in Iran have taken to the streets to celebrate the death of Khameni, those who are still in charge have launched numerous strikes in retaliation against a number of other countries in the region. Jordana Miller, ABC News correspondent in Jerusalem, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the feeling in Israel as the fighting escalates across the Middle East.
“It’s been a crazy 48 hours, one that really feels like a few weeks already,” Miller told host Larry Mendte. “We all knew that some kind of fight between the United States and Iran was possible, but I think all of us secretly hoped that maybe diplomacy would work; maybe the Iranians would come to their senses.”
Miller spoke about the Iranian strikes against Israel following the death of their leader: “They’re not just going after military targets; it appears in greater frequency they are just firing on anywhere they can fire on to try and kill Israelis and get a high death toll… they fired on Jerusalem already several times, which is very unusual.”
