Trump Neutral With Supreme Court Justices Who Ruled Against Tariffs

Donald Trump gave his State of the Union speech last night to address the nation on his first year in office and the work they are doing. One of his major actions has been implementing tariffs on imported goods from a number of foreign countries, but those plans took a hit on Friday when the Supreme Court ruled that Trump did not have the authority to impose those tariffs. Jon Decker, WOR White House correspondent, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the potential for tension between Trump and the justices in attendance.

“I was most interested to see what the reaction or interaction was going to be between the President and the Supreme Court Justices that showed up,” Decker told host Larry Mendte. “There were four that showed up for the speech last night, including three that voted against the President in that tariff case.”

Decker believes that despite Trump remaining calm when referencing the members of the Supreme Court, there was certainly some hard feelings: “The President shook hands with each of the justices but clearly there was a coldness the the President had when he shook hands with both Chief Justice John Roberts, as well as Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett.”
