Zohran Mamdani made promises of free buses and childcare in the city and told everyone that the richest of the city would pay for it with tax increases. Now that the state has pushed back on his plan to raise taxes for the rich, he has looked into alternative ways of raising money for the city, such as a property tax increase, which hurts the middle class citizens more than anything. Rob Astorino, WOR and NewsMax host, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about Mamdani’s policies and why he’s not surprised that it’s hurting the people who voted for him.
“Commies do what commies do, and this guy, just like the rest of his team around him, all they want to do is pick your pocket,” Astorino told host Larry Mendte. “It’s so much easier to make the rich the villains… don’t you realize folks that it’s always the middle class that pays because there’s not enough of those rich guys to go after.”
Astorino believes Mamdani can do the right thing, but he’s unsure if he’ll reach that point: “Your plan A and plan B is tax increase; plan C, which you haven’t mentioned, is to actually do what you’re supposed to do as an executive and look for savings, look for cuts.”
