The economic pundits mostly predicted a cool financial forecast for the country before the new jobs report was released on Wednesday morning. Some predictions ranged as low as zero new jobs added to the economy for the new year, though most predictions saw a gain of 50-60,000 new jobs. Then the report came out- 130,000 jobs added to the American work force.
The White House has been ecstatic since that report’s release, yet it seems the only financial buzzword thatmuch of the country is focused on is “affordability.” Kush Desai is the White House Deputy Press Secretary; he appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to explain why the pundits are twisting the news to fit the narrative they want.
Desai proudly declared a sense of vindication when asked by host Larry Mendte how the jobs report was received at the White House: “Of course we’re very happy. We continue to see America’s economic resurgence under President Trump come true. And look, you talk about the experts, I mean, look, the experts have been proven wrong again and again for the past year. We were supposed to have record high inflation. We were supposed to have economic catastrophe and mass unemployment, and we’ve seen the exact opposite transpire over the past year. It’s the continuing story of President Trump is right about everything and the experts were just wrong about everything.”
Desai said GDP growth is one reason why the Trump administration fervently believes in the strength of the economy, despite the gloom and doom reported by the mainstream media: “Look, we just saw this in the third quarter of 2025. GDP growth was supposed to be around 3 per cent. It came in blazing hot, at over 4 per cent, 4.4 per cent. So, we continue to smash all expectations, and we continue to implement an economic agenda that we know works… and we continue to work every day to make that come into reality.”
