Iran has long been an adversary of the United States and many other countries in the Middle East, and with the reports out of the country of protestors being killed, calls for intervention have increased. Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu met yesterday to talk about Iran and how they can go about dealing with the issues that country poses. Jon Decker, WOR White House correspondent, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the meeting and how he thinks each leader wants to approach this situation.
“My read on it is that the President and the Prime Minister have agreed to disagree,” Decker told host Larry Mendte. “[Netanyahu] wants a really hardline approach… and that is not something that President right now is buying into.”
Decker explained what Netanyahu wants Trump to do: “Prime Minister Netanyahu wants a different approach to Iran… he wants regime change, he wants military action, and he wants ballistic missiles to also be ridded from Iran’s arsenal…[Trump’s] social media posts indicates he wants to give diplomacy a chance and if that doesn’t work then as a backup there is a possibility of military action.”
