The Seattle Seahawks "fully expect" safety Nick Emmanwori to play in Super Bowl LX after he suffered an ankle injury during Wednesday's (February 4) practice, head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters on Thursday (February 5) via ESPN.

Macdonald said the injury was a low ankle sprain but wasn't sure it it would keep Emmanwori, 21, out of practice on Thursday.

"He's doing great, moving around. We just got to make sure we handle it the right way. Probably going to be overly careful and overcautious to make sure we're rolling going into the weekend," Macdonald said via ESPN.

Several players and coaches were reported to have gone over to Emmanwori after he suffered the injury on Wednesday before he managed to walk off the practice field on his own. The former South Carolina standout was selected by the Seahawks at No. 35 overall in the second-round of the 2025 NFL Draft and is a finalist for the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year award, which will be announced at the 2026 NFL Honors award show Thursday night.

Emmanwori recorded 81 tackles, one interception, nine tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks during his rookie season, making 11 starts and appearing in 14 games for the Seahawks, who had the No. 1 scoring defensive with 17.2 points allowed per game and the sixth ranked total defense with 285.6 yards per game.
