The Parents Of A Missing Suffolk Teen Ask For Help Finding Their Son

It is every parent’s worst nightmare to have a son or daughter go missing. Fifteen-year-old Thomas Medlin disappeared on January 9th after apparently heading from Suffolk County to Manhattan. Authorities think he may have been meeting up with someone he met through the online game Roblox. To further confound the circumstances of Minton’s disappearance, surveillance video on the Manhattan Bridge that night shows the boy possibly using the pedestrian walkway on the bridge, but no video shows him exiting on the other side of the walkway. Thomas’s parents, Eva Yan and James Medlin, have been furious at claims that the online game had nothing to do with his disappearance. They appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to ask for assistance in the search for their son.

Yan told host Larry Mendte she wants cops to do more, as they seem less convinced that someone was grooming Thomas on the popular game site to come to Manhattan and cause his disappearance: “The latest information is that my son was walking on the Manhattan Bridge, and, you know, that’s really the information we have so far. The police released an issue from the police station, and people jumped on all kinds of speculation, started to make stories, but I have ti say at this time, we spoke to the lead detective- nothing has been concluded, no conclusive evidence- and the search is still active.”

Medlin, meanwhile, debunked the theory that a small splash caught on a camera near the Manhattan Bridge suggests foul play, as he clings to the hope that his son is still somewhere out there: “The Brooklyn Bridge is a half-mile away. The cameras are dome cameras on the top parts of the Brooklyn Bridge, taking a picture of the Manhattan Bridge at, say, 7:10 at night, and it’s dark. To see a splash in the water, a ‘slight splash’, they said, at that point in time at night is like very vague, and so are the pictures of him on the bridge.”
