"Saturday Night Live" will reach a remarkable television milestone this weekend with the airing of its 1000th episode. The landmark broadcast, scheduled for Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET, will feature actor Alexander Skarsgård as host with musical guest Cardi B.
The iconic sketch comedy show has been a fixture of American television since its debut in 1975, recently celebrating its 50th anniversary in October 2025. To put the achievement in perspective, if someone began watching one episode per day starting February 1, it would take until October 28, 2028 to view the entire series—nearly three years of daily viewing.
"It's a huge accomplishment for creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels and the many cast and crew members who've graced the halls of Studio 8H," according to NBC.
The milestone episode marks Skarsgård's hosting debut, making him the first member of the famous Skarsgård acting family to host the show. The Swedish actor is known for his roles in "True Blood," "Succession," "Big Little Lies," and the upcoming film "Pillion."
Cardi B returns as musical guest nearly eight years after her first appearance in April 2018, when she performed songs from her debut album "Invasion of Privacy." The Grammy-winning rapper is now promoting her second album, "Am I the Drama?"
SNL's 51st season has featured a mix of returning fan favorites and first-time hosts, including Amy Poehler, Melissa McCarthy, Sabrina Carpenter, and Finn Wolfhard. The current cast includes veterans like Kenan Thompson, the show's longest-running cast member, alongside five new featured players who joined in October 2025.
The episode will air live on NBC and stream simultaneously on Peacock, with next-day streaming also available on Peacock. Fans can access sketches from every SNL episode through the streaming service.
