Bryant Park in New York City dazzled with holiday cheer during its annual tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday night. The event, held at the Bank of America Winter Village, attracted large crowds eager to witness the festive spectacle. This year's tree stands 45 feet tall and is adorned with over 1,200 oversized ornaments and approximately 12,000 lights, including giant glimmering pine cones and traditional holiday bells.
The celebration began at 5:30 p.m., with entry starting at 3:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Despite the chilly weather, the event was free and open to the public, offering a delightful experience for all attendees. For those unable to attend in person, the tree lighting was available to stream online, thanks to support from Bank of America.
The ice rink, a popular attraction at the Winter Village, temporarily closed to the public at 12:10 p.m. on the day of the event but reopened for skating immediately after the ceremony around 6:15 p.m. Meanwhile, the Lodge bar and food hall remained open throughout the day, providing refreshments and warmth to visitors.
The tree lighting at Bryant Park is a cherished tradition that marks the beginning of the holiday season in New York City, drawing locals and tourists alike to celebrate the festive spirit.
