Three new casinos are likely to be established in New York City following a recommendation by the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board on Monday. The board has suggested granting casino licenses to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Queens near Citi Field, Resorts World at the Aqueduct Racetrack, and Bally's proposed site at Ferry Point in the Bronx. These projects are expected to significantly benefit the local economy.

Governor Kathy Hochul highlighted the potential economic impact, stating that these developments could unlock billions in funding for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and create tens of thousands of jobs. The state's Gaming Commission is anticipated to approve the recommendations later this month, solidifying the plans.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino project, proposed by New York Mets Owner Steve Cohen, is set to be built near Citi Field in the Willets Point neighborhood. The proposal has received unanimous approval from the New York Community Advisory Committee, despite some opposition from local politicians such as New York Senator Jessica Ramos, who voiced her disapproval last year.

Resorts World and MGM Resorts are considered front-runners due to their existing operations, which include offering video lottery terminals (VLTs). Bally's proposal for a casino in the Bronx is also advancing, with the potential to bring new entertainment and economic opportunities to the area.
