Nearly a dozen police vehicles were vandalized late Monday night outside the 116th Precinct in Queens, New York. The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. near North Conduit Avenue and 244th Street, where both marked and unmarked police vehicles were damaged. According to the ABC7NY, the vandalism involved smashing windshields, back windows, and mirrors.

The suspect reportedly used an unknown object to damage five marked and six unmarked vehicles, causing significant damage, including smashed windshields and damaged tires. The New York Post reported that the suspect fled the scene in a silver Lexus and remains at large. The vandalism was bold, given the presence of multiple surveillance cameras outside the precinct.

The 116th Precinct, which opened less than a year ago, serves the neighborhoods of Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Brookville, and Laurelton. It is the first new NYPD command established in over a decade. Neighbor Carlyns Regis expressed concern, saying, "Hopefully they figure out who did it so it doesn't happen again, because if they feel comfortable enough to vandalize the cars, who is to say they won't vandalize the precinct next."

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, but no arrests have been made yet. The police are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspect and prevent future occurrences.
