As we honor all those who served this country on this Veterans’ Day, it is important to remember that many of those who come home need assistance to help reaccommodate to civilian life. Ensuring our veterans know where to get help is a great first step towards getting them set up with whatever services they need. Keith Appleton, US Army combat veteran and Mountainside Clinical Veterans Lead, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about getting our veterans help.
“We have 250 thousand veterans coming home each year… and over 80% of those veterans are saying that they weren’t ready when they left service,” Appleton told host Larry Mendte. “This is something that we on the private and community need to address.”
Appleton talked about the number of veterans that are missing out on assistance: “We have over 18 million veterans but only 50% are actually enrolled in VA or veterans’ service organizations.”
