While the New York City mayoral race garners significant attention, other important elections are taking place today. Voters across the city will decide on all 51 City Council seats, the City Comptroller, and Borough Presidents for each of the five boroughs.
In the City Comptroller race, Democrat Mark Levine is facing Republican Peter Kefalas and Independent Malavé Pérez. The current Manhattan Borough President, Levine is running for the Comptroller position, leaving his current role open. Brad Hoylman-Sigal, who won the Democratic primary, is favored to succeed him.
In the Manhattan District Attorney race, incumbent Alvin Bragg is seeking reelection. He faces challenges from Republican Maud Maron, a former public defender, and Independent Diana Florence, who has extensive experience in the Manhattan DA's office.
According to 270toWin, all boroughs have elections for Borough Presidents, with most incumbents expected to be reelected, except in Manhattan.
Additionally, voters will consider six ballot measures, including a statewide amendment to the New York constitution and several NYC-specific proposals. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and live results will be available after they close.
NY1 reports that the Manhattan DA race is particularly notable as it plays a major role in shaping criminal justice policy in the borough.
West Side Rag highlights that there are also local City Council races, such as in District 7 on the Upper West Side, where incumbent Shaun Abreu is running against Republican Manual Williams and Independent Edafe Okporo.
