New York City is set to celebrate Halloween tonight with a variety of exciting events and activities. The highlight of the evening is the annual Village Halloween Parade, which will take place in Greenwich Village along Sixth Avenue from Canal Street to 15th Street. This popular parade, supported by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, will feature over 50,000 participants in creative costumes, including giant puppets and live bands. The theme for 2025 is "It's a Potluck!" with City Harvest, an organization dedicated to rescuing fresh produce for New Yorkers, serving as the Grand Marshal. Famed restaurateur Simon Kim will represent City Harvest in the parade, celebrating community and abundance.
For those unable to attend in person, the parade will be available to live stream online. Visitors can also enjoy other Halloween-themed events throughout the city, such as the immersive 'Nightmare Before Christmas' experience at the New York Botanical Garden, featuring dazzling light installations inspired by the classic movie. Additionally, the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze in Hudson Valley showcases over 7,000 uniquely carved pumpkins forming stunning art installations.
Families can enjoy the Bronx Zoo's annual Harvest Glow event, which transforms the zoo into an illuminated jack-o’-lantern trail. Meanwhile, the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade and the Central Park Pumpkin Flotilla offer fun for all ages. For those seeking a thrill, Blood Manor provides a haunted house experience with actors and themed rooms.
Whether attending the parade, visiting a haunted house, or strolling through a pumpkin festival, New Yorkers have plenty of options to celebrate Halloween in style.
