In New York City, the race for mayor is heating up as candidates Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and Curtis Sliwa vie for votes ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, November 4th. Over the weekend, Democrat Zohran Mamdani addressed affordability issues at a Baptist church, while independent Andrew Cuomo criticized Mamdani's policies as divisive. Republican Curtis Sliwa emphasized his stance as the law and order candidate, promising to reduce crime.

The weekend also saw a significant turnout for early voting, with over 164,000 New Yorkers casting their ballots, a fivefold increase compared to the first two days of early voting in 2021, as reported by the New York Post.

Mamdani, who is leading in the polls, has gained support from progressive voters with his platform focusing on rent freezes and publicly owned grocery stores. He has received endorsements from high-profile figures like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders. According to Newsweek, Mamdani holds a strong lead with 45% support, followed by Cuomo at 28% and Sliwa at 15%.
