In the final debate before New York City's mayoral election, Democratic State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, Independent ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Republican Curtis Sliwa faced off on Wednesday night. The debate, held at LaGuardia Community College, saw Mamdani defending his policies, including free buses and a $30 per hour minimum wage, against criticism from his opponents. According to The New York Times, Cuomo and Sliwa attacked Mamdani's experience and his socialist label, with Sliwa questioning the feasibility of Mamdani's proposals.

Cuomo, who resigned as governor in 2021 following sexual misconduct allegations, faced renewed scrutiny over these claims during the debate. Mamdani directly addressed the allegations, questioning Cuomo's actions toward his accusers. FOX 5 NY reported that Mamdani accused Cuomo of being "a desperate man" clinging to power.

The debate also covered topics like housing, with Mamdani criticized for not taking a stance on upcoming ballot measures. Sliwa and Cuomo presented opposing views on these proposals, with Sliwa rejecting them and Cuomo supporting them. The candidates also discussed their approaches to dealing with President Trump, with Cuomo emphasizing his experience in handling federal pressure.

As reported by The New York Times, early voting begins on Saturday, with Election Day set for November 4. Mamdani remains the front-runner, but the debate highlighted the fierce competition and differing visions for New York City's future.
