Everyone has plenty of bills to pay and a big expense that most have to deal with is their car and its maintenance. Getting the most life out of your car is important to saving money in the long run but making sure your car lasts can be tricky. Ron Ananian, Host of ‘The Car Doctor’ on the iHeartRadio app, talked with Mendte in the Morning about the five steps you can take to make your car keep running for 500k miles.
“Pick something that works, pick a time-tested model… Treat it gently, treat it like a fine wine or a walk around the park,” Ananian told host Larry Mendte. “At least once a year, maybe more, you’ve gotten have that relationship with a mechanic to let them look [at oil and fluids] … Take it to the car wash once a month… If you’ve gotten the five years out of your battery, change it.”
Ananian believes the argument between maintaining and buying new has been solved already: “Taxi cabs and fleets figured it out a long time ago, its cost per mile… if you’re willing to do the 2000-3000 [dollars] a year on average you may find that cheaper than the $700 a month car payment.”
