Zohran Mamdani rose above Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for NYC Mayor in part because of his skills in a debate, especially compared to the former Governor. Some also believe Mamdani has received soft coverage from the media, so the upcoming Mayoral debate could be a perfect storm for the Queens Assemblyman to cement his lead at the top of the polls. Vickie Paladino, NYC Council member, does not want that to happen and shared a plan with Mendte in the Morning that Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa can use to compete with Mamdani.
“If these moderators are going to play softball, you better get out there and play hardball,” Paladino told host Larry Mendte. “Lay off Cuomo, Curtis… you go after Mamdani that’s it, and if Cuomo’s team is smart, he won’t go after Curtis, he’ll go after Mamdani.”
Paladino believes the most important part of the debate is to get a message to the people: “It’s all about telling everybody what New York will look like under a Zohran leadership.”
