An eleven-year-old child is in critical condition following a hit-and-run incident in Brooklyn. The child was riding a scooter along Ocean Parkway on Monday evening when a black 2026 Acura Integra struck them near Avenue V. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, leaving the child severely injured. Police later found the abandoned Acura a short distance away at Ocean Parkway and Avenue R.

The collision also injured a 25-year-old man, who was struck by debris from the crash. He was taken to Maimonides Medical Center with minor leg injuries and is expected to recover. The child remains in critical condition at the same hospital.

The NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad is actively investigating the incident, with no arrests made so far. Police have urged anyone with information about the driver to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.

This incident is part of a troubling trend in the area. According to Brooklyn Paper, collisions involving motorized two-wheel vehicles have increased by eight percent in the 61st Precinct this year. The intersection of Ocean Parkway and Avenue V has seen multiple accidents, with at least 35 people injured in 15 crashes over the past five years.
