A man was brutally attacked and killed inside the Jay Street-MetroTech subway station in Brooklyn on Tuesday. Police responded to the scene around 3:05 p.m. and found the victim, a man possibly in his 50s, unconscious and unresponsive. He had suffered severe trauma, including a fractured skull, after being punched and kicked in the head multiple times in front of the turnstiles, according to ABC7NY.
Emergency Medical Services rushed the man to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim's identity has not been released as authorities await family notification.
The suspect was last seen boarding a Bronx-bound Number Two train. The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect and took a person of interest into custody, ABC7NY reports.
As the investigation continues, police have not yet determined a motive for the attack. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or submit tips online. All communications are confidential, according to AMNY.
