On the campaign trail Tuesday in New York City, Democratic mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani issued a scathing critique on X, accusing Israel and its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, of committing “genocidal war” in Gaza and criticized the U.S government of being complicit of the “war crimes” taking place there. It took Mamdani’s critics about two-tenths of a second to realize what day he was posting the statement: October 7th- the second anniversary of the Hamas attacks that killed 1,200 Israelis and saw another 250 taken hostage. Many of those same critics were left wondering why the media weren’t calling Mamdani out for posting such an inflammatory statement. Jeffrey Lichtman is a high-profile criminal defense attorney and the host of the podcast “Beyond the Legal Limit”; he appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to rage against the Mamdani machine, saying he knew what he was doing by posting the statement when he did.
Lichtman expressed his frustration at the lack of outrage following Mamdani’s diatribe with host Larry Mendte: “Well, the reason he’s doing it is obvious; it’s because he knows that it’ll get him more votes. I mean, he could have kept his mouth shut to try and protect him if he felt it would cost him votes, but he knows that New York City is far left; it’s very anti-Semitic. So, he knows that the more Jew-hate that he spews, the more votes he’s going to get. So that’s why there’s no outrage, for that very reason- that people support that kind of language… Let him destroy New York City, and all of these Jew-haters that thought it was a great idea, they’re going to go down the toilet with him.”
Lichtman also doesn’t see a deus ex machina candidate swooping in and topping Mamdani on Election Day: “Cuomo is a horrible human, being, just absolutely the worst. Eric Adams is a criminal who belongs in a cage. Curtis Sliwa- nice guy, [but] utterly useless, can’t win an election and refuses to drop out. So, there’s no chance these liberals would find any of the other choices palatable.”
