Does Thwarted Cyberattack Paint Scary Picture For NYC’s Future?

The US Secret Service announced that they had thwarted an attempt at a telecommunications attack in Brooklyn yesterday. The agency believes that the devices they dismantled could have been used to cause massive cell service outages across the tri-state area and all across New York City. Vickie Paladino, New York City Council member, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the thwarted attack and how much worse it could have been with different leadership.

“With a Mayor Mamdani, could you imagine dismantling the police department and having to handle what could’ve been the equivalent of a 9/11 attack only in a cyber way,” Paladino told host Larry Mendte. “They were going to be able to block all the cell phone use, they were going to be able to shut down within 10 miles any sort of communication device.”

Paladino thinks the current Mayoral frontrunner would be a disaster for the city: “This is terrorist cells working inside of New York City, and to have a Mayor Mamdani at the helm would absolutely, positively be our end.”
