President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday morning, highlighting his administration's achievements while criticizing the United Nations' effectiveness. During his speech, President Trump claimed that since he last spoke at the U.N., the "guns of war have shattered peace" and touted the successes of his second term, including economic deals and efforts to resolve seven global conflicts without U.N. assistance.

According to CNN, President Trump questioned the mission of the United Nations and aired grievances about immigration and green energy. He accused the U.N. of failing to help resolve conflicts, stating, "Sadly, in all cases, the United Nations did not even try to help in any of them." He also took the opportunity to criticize his predecessor, Joseph R. Biden, and some NATO allies.

The speech was delivered as the U.N. marked its 80th anniversary amid ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, who spoke before President Trump, emphasized the importance of unity and diplomacy in addressing global challenges. Outside the U.N. building, protests erupted against President Trump's policies, with demonstrators holding signs and chanting slogans.

President Trump reiterated his demand for the return of hostages from Gaza and criticized Britain's energy policy, urging them to drill more oil in the North Sea. The U.N. Security Council is set to convene sessions on the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine expected to address the Council.
