ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will resume airing tonight after host Jimmy Kimmel's brief suspension. Last week, Disney suspended Kimmel following his comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The remarks led to backlash and a warning from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Disney, which owns ABC, stated that the decision to reinstate Kimmel came after "thoughtful conversations" with him.

The suspension sparked a national debate on free speech, with protests and calls from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. According to The Guardian, Sinclair Broadcast Group, a major owner of ABC stations, will not air the show until Kimmel apologizes to Kirk's family and makes a donation to Turning Point USA, Kirk's activist group.

Despite the controversy, many celebrated Kimmel's return. California Governor Gavin Newsom and other public figures praised the decision as a win for free speech. However, Fox News reported that some conservatives criticized Disney's decision, arguing it was a mistake.

Kimmel, who has hosted the show for 22 years, will continue to broadcast, although some stations may still preempt the show. The episode will be available online after airing on ABC.
