Residents of Bethpage are gearing up for the Ryder Cup, which will take place from September 26-28 at the Bethpage Black Course. The event is expected to draw nearly 300,000 visitors to Long Island, as fans from around the world gather to watch the American team face off against Europe's best golfers.

Local hotels have been fully booked for months, prompting some residents to offer their homes for rent. According to Manistee News, some homeowners are renting out their driveways for parking, with prices reaching up to $100 per day. Farmingdale Mayor Ralph Ekstrand has stated that while driveway rentals are allowed, homeowners must adhere to village rules to avoid fines.

The Ryder Cup is known for its lively atmosphere, and the event at Bethpage is expected to be no different. Golf Digest reports that security measures have been increased to manage the anticipated crowds. Officials expect up to 50,000 fans per day, and there will be a zero-tolerance policy for aggressive behavior. The PGA of America is working with New York State Police to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Transportation to the event will be facilitated by the LIRR, which will offer expanded service during Ryder Cup week. Free shuttles will run from Farmingdale Station to Bethpage State Park, and ride-share users will have access to an official lot with shuttle services to Manhattan.
