Ever since the days when Steve Jobs ran the ship, fans and admirers of Apple products have anxiously awaited the arrival of their new gadgets the way small children anticipate the arrival of Christmas morning. Tomorrow should be no exception to the rule, as the iPhone 17 is among the newest devices and systems the tech giant unveils. As always, though, casual fans and skeptics alike are asking if the new gizmos are worth the wait, and the price. Rich DeMuro is the host of “Rich on Tech”, heard Sunday nights at 8pm on WOR. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to offer a techie’s breakdown of the new goodies from Apple.
“I think that Apple has hit it out of the park this year,” DeMuro told host Larry Mendte. “Every single phone they came out with is, in its own right, really, really good, and they fixed a lot of the stuff that tech reviewers like myself had issues with. So, for instance, entry level iPhone 17, you’re going to get better battery life, you’re going to get a better screen, it’s glare-free, you’re going to get the new selfie camera that’s 18 megapixels… it’s also going to get glass that doesn’t break as much, the screen is brighter, it charges faster, and… when you scroll through social media it’s going to look smoother, and when you look at movies, they’re gonna look better.”
DeMuro also offered a preview of iOS 26, which features an advanced form of call screening for iPhone users: “Basically, your iPhone will answer your phone in the background to people who are unknown callers and ask them to say their name and the reason they’re calling you. Then, and only then, will it ring your phone with that information that they just said transcribed on your lock screen.”
