Judge Passes DiMaggio But Favor Wasn’t On The Yankee Clipper’s Side

The Yankees took down their bitter rival the Boston Red Sox 4-1 on Friday night and helped further their lead in the AL Wild Card. In a bigger solo achievement on that night, Yankee star Aaron Judge hit a towering home run over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park that marked his 362nd homer as a Yankee, moving him into 4th place on the all time list for the Bronx Bombers. Warner Wolf, legendary sportscaster, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the accomplishment and why an asterisk may need to be put on it to better credit the man Judge passed.

“Aaron Judge passed Joe DiMaggio… for 4th place for most home runs as a Yankee,” Wolf told host Larry Mendte. “It’s only 399 feet to the power alley in left center… for DiMaggio, he played all 13 years when it was 457 feet.”

Wolf thinks DiMaggio’s numbers would’ve looked better had he played in a better ballpark: “77 home games a year times 13 seasons is over 1000 games; you don’t think DiMaggio would have more than 361 homeruns? Of course he would’ve had close to 500.”
