Everyone on the planet needs to sleep in order to keep our bodies healthy and keep our minds sharp as we navigate through life. Many of us however do not take the extra steps required to ensure we’re getting good sleep every night. Dr. Gregory Poland, leader in vaccines and infectious diseases at the Mayo Clinic, spoke with Mendte in the Morning and shared some tips to get a better night’s sleep.

“Stop looking at screens before you go to bed… the room should be darkened,” Dr. Poland told host Larry Mendte. “You might want some so-called white noise in the background, it should be on the cool side, and the best position to sleep in is on your side.”

Dr. Poland believes that the problems people have with sleeping is not a small issue: “We do have a lot of sleep problems; we are a nation of chronically tired people.”
