What Comes Next For Texas Democrats Who Fled State

Earlier this week, Democrats from the Texas House of Representatives fled the state in order to delay the vote and block the passage of a new congressional map that would favor Republicans. These Texans have fled to states such as Illinois and New York as leadership from those states have criticized the proposed redraw as gerrymandering and election rigging. Jim Ryan, ABC News correspondent in Dallas, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the latest on how Texas Republicans are responding.

“John Cornyn, the U.S. Senator, has asked the FBI to get involved,” Ryan told host Larry Mendte. “Not necessarily to arrest those Democrats who are outside the state but to investigate them on grounds that they may be breaking bribery laws.”

Ryan also offered an update on how the FBI is planning on helping out: “Kash Patel, the FBI Director, has not said publicly what his plan is but Cornyn says that Patel has agree to go ahead and launch this investigation.”
