Is The NYPD The Key To The NYC Mayoral Race?

Following the mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan last week, current leader in the Mayoral polls Zohran Mamdani’s policies have been called into question. Specifically, Mamdani has previously stated that he would like to disband the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group but has not commented on if he still holds that view after the SRG was among the first on site to the Park Avenue shooting last Monday. Rich Lowry, Editor in Chief of National Review, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about this issue being a big hole in Mamdani’s campaign.

“There’s ample opportunity to make this guy radioactive; he needs to be made radioactive,” Lowry told host Larry Mendte. “The problem is, at the moment, Adams and Cuomo have higher unfavorable ratings than this communist.”

Lowry believes the playbook against Mamdani is simple: “The other candidates and outside players need to convince run of the mill ordinary Democrats that he’s a threat to their jobs, he’s a threat to their safety and make him unacceptable.”
