The idea of human beings traveling to or even colonizing Mars seems far-fetched and maybe even fruitless at times despite the advancements that have been made in recent history. Traveling to Mars may not be the only motive for this effort though despite that being the end goal broadcasted to the public. Kevin Cirilli, Futurist reporter and founder of Meet the Future, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the media coverage of Mars and space travel.
“Regardless of your thoughts on Elon Musk, or Sam Altman, or Mark Zuckerberg, we can’t cover going to Mars as just a vanity project for a billionaire,” Cirilli told host Larry Mendte. “[The media] doesn’t talk about why it’s important.”
Cirilli believes that researching space technology is instrumental in our everyday lives: “If you take out space our whole entire way of life, our banking systems, our communication systems, the way we navigate the world every single day as Americans is taken out.”
