Over the last few months Mendte in the Morning has taken a look at all the warning lights that appear on your car’s dashboard. Each warning light is equally as important and poses risks to those who ignore it so it is important to study up on all these lights and know how to respond should any of them turn on in your car. Ron Ananian, host of ‘The Car Doctor’ on the iHeartRadio app, talks with Mendte in the Morning about your car overheating and how to deal with it.
“If the [coolant temperature] warning light is coming on, or if you’ve got a temperature gauge and it says it’s overheating, it’s running hot, pull over,” Ananian tells host Larry Mendte. “Don’t open the hood; there’s nothing you can do anyway. Let the car sit for a half hour to 45 minutes.”
Ananian explained some of the measures you can take to be prepared for this warning light coming on: “You should know where your coolant overflow bottle is… maybe if we’re going distances, we’re carrying a gallon of coolant specific to the vehicle, or water at least just so we have some kind of an emergency preparedness kit.”
