Eric Adams, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa have each stubbornly dug their heels in and insisted that only they have the chance to stop Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani in November. Yet, the prevailing sense dictates that the three candidates would split the anti-Mamdani vote, thereby leaving the declared socialist candidate with a clear path to victory. Cuomo believes that it’s too early to count the numbers; he has professed waiting until Labor Day before looking at polling numbers on the race. If the numbers say one candidate alone has a fighter’s chance, would the other two actually drop out and back him for the good of the city?
Defense attorney Jeffrey Lichtman, who also hosts the podcast “Beyond the Legal Limit” on the iHeart radio app, is one of the loudest voices in the wilderness whenever the subject of who should be the next mayor of New York comes up. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to express his dissatisfaction with the logic behind all of the candidates.
Lichtman begrudgingly told host Larry Mendte that Cuomo’s idea of polling in September may tell us who has the best chance at upending Mamdani’s smooth ride to City Hall: “The stakes are too high, Larry, and when I think about how much I hate politicians, this is Exhibit A. They’re so selfish, they’re so narcissistic, all they really care about is power. They try to tell you how much they care about the people, and they care about the city, and they just want to do the right thing… There should be polling done; whoever remains of the three of them should run against Mamdani alone.”
Even then, Lichtman fears it may be too late to upend Mamdani’s socialist agenda for the nation’s largest city: “(I’m) concerned that an open socialist… a guy who is literally going to run the city into the ground- he’s telling us that he’s going to do it!- the fact that he’s so close to becoming mayor tells us if it doesn’t happen in November- oh, it’s coming. It’s coming sooner or later. This is what the liberals have done to America… and eventually they’re going to turn us into Europe, if we’re not Europe already.”
