A big part of life is making mistakes and learning from those mistakes to make better decisions in the future. Some mistakes are better off being avoided however, and being able to take advice from others is key in avoiding those bigger mistakes. Greg Giangrande, career advice expert, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about a big error he made early in his career and offered advice to younger workers getting started.
“To act like you are uniquely talented and the company will suffer if they don’t have you is the absolutely wrong perspective to have,” Giangrande told host Larry Mendte. “What you need to do is constantly feel like… how do I demonstrate my value and the impact I have everyday?”
Giangrande believes the best practice is to always put your best foot forward: “Make sure you’re always looking at ways to add value; how can I help this company, what can I do, what can I learn, how can I contribute, how can I volunteer. You need to be that person.”
