Who Will Be The Democratic Nominee For NYC Mayor?

A few months ago it seemed like Andrew Cuomo would run away as the Democratic nominee in the New York City Mayoral race but it has been anything but easy for the former New York Governor. Zohran Mamdani has stormed towards the top of the polls in a relatively short time, and is now neck and neck with Cuomo in the polls. Joe Borelli, former NYC Council minority leader and managing director at Chartwell Strategy Group, talked to Mendte in the Morning about Mamdani putting himself into contention to become the Democrat nominee.

“If you follow the trend line of Mamdani’s campaign over the last two months he has been consistently trickling up, trickling up, trickling up,” Borelli told host Larry Mendte. “In campaigns, momentum and the trend is more important than any one particular poll.”

Despite not supporting Mamdani, Borelli had to give credit where credit is due: “He did run a very effective campaign, and he talked about issues that matter to New Yorkers… as opposed to Andrew Cuomo who avoided the press, avoided making any policy statements.”
