OCEARCH is a global non-profit organization that helps scientists by collecting previously unattainable data in order to try and restore the oceans’ return to balance and abundance. They have recently tagged a male white shark that is larger than any other they have ever tagged. Dr. Harley Newton, Chief Veterinarian and Senior Veterinary Scientist at OCEARCH, tagged the shark herself and spoke about tracking it with Mendte in the Morning.

“These sharks seem to choose a primary place to spend their summer,” Dr. Newton told guest host Jimmy Failla. “They either go to Cape Cod or they go to Atlantic Canada, and this will be the first year we’ll be able to follow him and see which one her chooses.”

Dr. Newton talked about where this shark might go next: “This is the time of year that they’re on the move so they’re actually migrating now…we think what’s on his agenda is he’s gonna be moving north and very likely moving through the waters of New York.”
