Long-time viewers of Fox are well acquainted with the comedic style of Jimmy Failla. The cab driver turned comedian has a singular view of the issues of the day, and now he’s bringing that worldview to radio. Starting tonight, Failla can be heard from 9pm-midnight weeknights on WOR. He dropped in on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program for an entire hour to introduce himself to the audience at his new home on the dial.

Failla described his style with host Larry Mendte in this way: “I’m obviously taking the issues very seriously, but as you can tell, I don’t take myself seriously at all, and I feel like I have that obligation because that’s my one contribution to the media. Essentially, I describe myself as a dog with a job. You know when you go to the airport, and the dog that sniffs the bags is always smiling and wagging his tail because he can’t believe they’re counting on him to save the plane, okay? That’s me, every time I go on the radio, or go on TV. I have the energy of a dog with a job, so I’m gonna crush it as long as nobody throws a tennis ball halfway through the opening, in which case I run out of here and somebody pets my stomach and you’ve got to go to break early.”

As an example of his view of the tri-State area, here’s how Failla weighed in on the race for Governor in New Jersey: “New Jersey- obviously, I’m not from there. I have the accent from my time driving a cab in New York City, but I’ve invested so much money in the state of New Jersey via Atlantic City blackjack tables that I feel like I should be allowed to vote, okay. Everybody talks about that time they lost a lot of money- I’m like, don’t talk to me about losing money ‘til you’re putting on a blonde wig and walking the boardwalk in a pair of high heels to make back bus money to get to New York- THEN you’re down money, you know what I’m saying?”
