Progress has been made on pushing through Donald Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ as the House was able to advance some of the more debated parts of the budget package. A final vote is still needed before it is sent to the Senate floor and a few other sections are still being discussed. Rory O’Neill, WOR national correspondent, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the roadblocks that have been hit as Congress works to pass this bill.
“There’s a contingent of moderate Republicans saying I can’t go home and try to sell this,” O’Neill tells host Larry Mendte. “There’s just as big of a contingent of Republicans saying this doesn’t cut anywhere near enough.”
O’Neill believes the contention in the Republican party is not helping their case: “The other big stumbling block is the SALT deduction…it’s really got division among Republicans who cannot afford to be divided because it’s going to take every single Republican essentially to pass this big beautiful bill.”
