NJ Transit train service could be shut down Friday as the engineers union threatens a strike against the agency. NJ Transit has promised to increase bus capacity and suggested working from home for those who will be impacted by the train stoppage, but a strike would still cause massive disruptions. Natalie Migliore, WOR Reporter, went out and talked to NJ Transit commuters about their plans if the two sides can’t reach a deal.
“I haven’t even tried to cross that bridge yet; ultimately, I would have to be at the mercy of New Jersey Transit,” one person told Migliore. “I’m hoping it doesn’t happen because I don’t have a plan B,” another commuter told Migliore.
One rider offered some support to engineers threatening to strike: “Everyone wants to make ends meet… if it requires striking for them to get better wages for them and their families, I’m all on board for that.”
