New York City is looking to completely revamp how it does scaffolding to better serve the people who live and work here. Not only does the city want to have as few of them up as possible, but they also want to make sure that the scaffolding that is up is better fit for its environment with different designs, and more lighting. Mendte in the Morning sent Natalie Migliore, WOR Reporter, out on the street to talk to the people of NYC about the pros and cons of scaffolding around the city.
“It's important to have the scaffolding for the safety of the people in the street,” one citizen told Migliore. “It also takes away from the building and what it really looks like; if you’re trying to rent out a building people will not want to move there.”
Another person had an issue with how long the scaffolding stayed up long after it is needed: “That’s the issue, you never see anyone doing anything, but you see the scaffolding up forever.”
