Donald Trump officially put in place his tariffs on Wednesday on what he is now calling ‘Liberation Day.’ He claims that he is pushing to get production back to America, and bring more jobs to United States citizens, but some believe he is also using this plan as leverage to renegotiate new trade deals. Charles Gasparino, Fox Business analyst, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the potential other motives behind these tariffs.
“I think he will cut deals,” Gasparino told guest host Ken Rosato. “Getting to those deals could be really messy.”
Gasparino believes it will be not be an easy process to go through getting manufacturing back in the United States: “We’re used to cheap goods…that’s just all baked into the system; to unwind that instantly is really really tough.”
