Outspoken New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino (R-19th) is becoming more and more fed up with what she calls an “anti-car” attitude in the Big Apple. As she sees it, bike lanes, the push for green energy, and congestion pricing all are means to a not-so-rosy end for the little guy. Paladino recently sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, asking him to investigate all federal money that goes to New York City to implement an “anti-car” infrastructure. She appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to lay out the reasoning behind the letter.
“First of all, the DOT is run by a bunch of anti-car activists,” Paladino explained to host Larry Mendte. “Bike lanes, bus lanes, doing away with cars- you wake up one morning, there’s a bike rack in front of your house, taking up parking spaces. It’s a war on cars; it’s been a war on cars now for many years. We watched it just slowly be implemented until eventually it’s taking over. I’d like a federal investigation into these activists’ non-for-profit groups. I’d like an investigation into where our money is going- if I had my way in New York, the MTA, also.”
Paladino also offered her thoughts about Zohran Mamdani, the State Representative who has propelled himself into the conversation about who could be the next mayor: “This is the dream candidate for these radical left-wing progressives… He could burn this city to the ground. If we think New York is dying still, after Covid, he will put the final nail into the coffin.”
