As springtime comes around and the weather gets warmer, many high school and college students are likely focused on finishing up the school year strong and trying to figure out the next steps in their lives. Whether they are deciding on and applying to schools or looking for careers after graduation, the stresses and anxieties of these life changes are taking a toll on our youth. Greg Giangrande, career advice expert, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the rising levels of mental health struggles that generation is seeing.

“Nearly 50% of college students report feeling overwhelming anxiety and have had thoughts of suicide,” Giangrande told host Larry Mendte. “Two thirds of high schoolers feel more stress than adults, and they live with this anxiety every day.”

Giangrande believes that a failure to support these young adults could have dire consequences: “We need to relieve these kids of this stress, because it leads to bad performance, bad health, bad things obviously like suicide… binge drinking, drug abuse.”
